The former prosecutor is obviously trying to smear political opponents with allegations of crimes, as he has done repeatedly throughout his career.
The previous conservative administrations committed crimes and the public wanted investigations. Yoon led the prosecution to convict former President Park Keun-hye and Lee Myung-bak, not the Moon administration.
Yoon locked up many people for falsifying resumes but not his wife, for some reason. It's okay for her to do that, but others get lock up for years?
Imagine if Musk said the same things about a potential bid for Facebook as he did for Twitter.
Musk stated "I also want to make Twitter (Facebook) better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans."
Make Facebook algorithms open source? About a good a chance as making Google's or Youtube's algorithms open source, probably.
Magic tricks again. Trying to deflect attention from the real problem and gain time before the inevitable.
Countries with really strict gun control laws (South Korea, Japan) have almost no deaths and suicides involving guns.
Very little restrictions on guns = dead people
US conservative politicians obviously value money from lobbyists and freedom to carry guns in public more than lives.
Very simple. If South Korea had gun laws and a gun industry like the US, it would have similar gun violence, assuredly.
In the beginning, there were no laws on guns as they were new. Then as deaths from gun violence mounted, laws restricting use and ownership were enacted. Notice the trend over the past centuries.
Some people are going against the flow. Morally decrepit or cognitively dissonant, maybe?
'Historically, the formation of an administration or a presidential transition committee has led to newspaper front pages being plastered with articles about new policies. I can’t remember seeing those sorts of articles when the Yoon administration’s transition committee was at work.'
Other people also notice that Yoon is just pretending to be governing, while doing something else.
Headlines changed from retaliation to creation. Probably found out that Korea does not have operational control of military forces in case of North Korean provocations.
The media said yesterday that Yoon was meeting to ask the military to strongly retaliate against North Korean provocations (something that Korea already does, in consultation with the head of the Combined ROK/US Forces and United Nations Command).
Now they are going to start planning for a 'strategic command'? South Korea has been planning to regain operational control of its own military forces in case of North Korean provocations for years. So, Korea has been planning to create some system or command for this already.
At least, Yoon probably learned something from the meeting. Doesn't he receive briefings or anything? Seems very uninformed and has meetings with no concrete objectives, it seems. As if he is pretending to be governing, it appears. Resembles former President Park's actions.
Yoon also ordered construction resume on nuclear plants in Korea. Probably needed, but there should have been some discussion beforehand. Just to inform the public on the pros and cons.
Pros - less dependence on oil, etc. for electricity.
Cons - Disposal and storage of nuclear waste from previous reactors is unresolved. Less productive than investments in renewable energy. Cancellation of investment plans for renewable energy.
No discussion. Just pushes ahead with whatever seems popular with the conservatives.
Bull. The US has operational control in case of North Korean provocations. Thank Goodness!
Maybe, Yoon meant non-military retaliation? Could be.
The Korean president can say things, but the US commander in charge of the ROK/US Combined Forces Command has operational control in such situations. Currently, US General Paul LaCamera is in charge. He is also in charge of the United Nations Command.
Fairly ridiculous for a president to try to impress the public with empty words and promises. A lot of older Koreans should know what I know.
President's Moon and Noh pushed to take back control of Korea's defense despite opposition from the conservative party to which Yoon belongs. As a result of years of careful negotiations, Korea was slated to take back control about now, but this has been delayed for a few more years, maybe another decade.
None of the media points out this fact. What BS! Taking everybody for fools. So many people believe what they read in the news and watch on TV. Not very conscious of what is happening around them. Probably too self-centered to notice.
Watched this happen seemingly every day for several decades, even during dictator Park's time. Media fooling the public and the public doesn't catch on. Unbelievable! Why? Hmmm....
Korea is already on China's blacklist due to former President Park Keun-hye's decision to allow US THAAD defense systems to be installed in Korea. Chinese tourist agencies cannot offer tours to Korea. South Korean conglomerate Lotte Group was, in effect, kicked out of China suffering billions of dollars in losses. And more...
With Yoon's stance on China and North Korea, trade with China will worsen. Korean cosmetics used to be really popular in China. Not anymore. Former President Moon took a more diplomatic approach and restored relations somewhat.
Only China can control North Korea. If China withdraws its economic support, North Korea would be hard pressed to give up nuclear weapons and stockpile. That is the only thing standing in the way.
Fight against Russia and China, that's good. But everyone knows South Korea and the US are close allies. Why advertise it and rub it in? For politics? Geez.
Deflects attention from wealthy accruing too much wealth. Less chance attention to wrongdoing by Trump and corporations. Dramatically hinders government of the country. Get more money from lobbyists....get the drift?
Conservatives, in Korea and the US, fight against anything they can to oppose government instead of supporting it or doing something to resolve a problem, seemingly. Just oppose and criticize any attempts to solve problems without offering any solutions.
Similar to doing magic tricks using misdirection. Diverting the public's attention from negative aspects of the wealthy. Just listen and watch. It should be obvious.
Definitely would not trust neighbors or fellow Seoulites with guns. Hell no! Definitely a lot of people would die, if they were allowed to carry guns. Lots of drunk and stressed people. Armed robbery with guns. Assaults and threats with guns.
Criticize the government during former dictator Park's rule in the 60s and 70s and go straight to jail.
Former prosecutors, judges and lawyers seem to run the country now. Having been installed by President Yoon. Talk about cronyism.
Former Presidents Moon and Noh made the noble mistake of appointing officials from within the agency, instead of cronies or loyalists. In Moon's case, he appointed Yoon as head prosecutor without regard to political affiliation. Good guys finish last, in the near term, apparently.
It should be illegal to threaten to kill or severely hurt someone, or say that someone be killed. Same for other aggressive actions. But no, they make other things, like plants, illegal.
In the study, the employees were informed that they were being monitored. So, don't let them know.
The report states that discussing monitoring and finding consensus with the employees will reduce the risk of employees behaving badly.
Working hard and responsibly, and then all of a sudden, being monitored. Definitely results in cognitive dissonance.
Read that the endocannabinoid system plays an important part in health. Sure is a pity that due to laws prohibiting cannabis, very little research could be done in this field.
Inflation in Korea, in 1980, it cost a nickel to ride the bus. Today, it costs a dollar. Beginning salary at Samsung was less than 300 dollars a month. Now, starting salary is around 4,000 dollars a month.
Learned that light travels a few millimeters in a billionth of a second today. Could have done the calculations.
Former prosecutor experienced in jailing people for falsifying documents, resumes, university applications, and so on.
His wife is experienced in falsifying resumes, documents, job applications, and so on. Seems to have been protected when her husband was prosecutor. Her mother has been convicted for a crime but it was overturned, if memory is correct. Investigations into other crimes seem to be suspended while Yoon is in office.
Germany should legalize weed in a couple of years, it seems. They say it will be the tipping stone for Europe, then the UN, and then the world. Think of all the newly created jobs and economy.
In the 1970s, the 'establishment' used to say that legalization of marijuana would lead to an unproductive society. Seems to lead to jobs and wealth creation. And creativity, pleasant atmosphere, chill people, etc.
Fashion, sports, music, movies, online games, digital payments, credit cards, and such, did ya notice?
Sports, a slightly more metaphysical type of war. Fashion, a metaphysically inspired clothing.
Things could be shifting to a more metaphysical world, not the kind of metaverse as defined by Facebook et al.
Should be very grateful and happy just to be alive.
Also applies to the young!
Some other thoughts.
What are the only real threats to wealthy people? Government, regulation, taxes and inflation.
Watch and read what the media puts out. And wonder why.
So, there will be constant propaganda on most media, especially economic or financially oriented ones, imparting the impression that smaller government, lower taxes and deregulation, which are good in some aspects and situations, but not in general.
Conservative media propaganda vs poor people's opinions. Wonder how this progresses? Education wins. Why? In general, human intelligence seeks knowledge. Why? Could be something behind it.
Conservatives will scheme to provide privileged education only to certain classes of people? Private schools, cramming schools, tutors, expensive tuitions for top colleges, etc.
If the world applied the same trade laws that China applies to other countries and foreigners to China, would China still be poor? But...
Most developing countries, Korea included, prohibited imports in order to promote local industries. If they didn't, locals would buy higher quality imports, many American, at usually lower prices. Samsung sold TVs in Korea at higher prices than abroad in the 1980s, if anyone remembers the related anti-dumping cases. They could sell TVs at higher prices in Korea due to the very high import taxes imposed on TVs, at the time. The laws were changed to allow average Koreans to travel abroad around that time, after the authoritarian leader of Korea was assassinated by the intelligence agency head, if memories are correct.
We only started playing mostly fair on trade a few decades ago. China seems to feel that it still has a long way to go, and that many parts of the world that do not belong to China, at present, belongs to China.
Russia and China? Like Germany and Japan in World War II. Same territorial aspirations. But if only two are left, who will take over?
Welcome to WW III. Slightly less blood thirsty but a war, nonetheless.
Discovery Channel and the like are showing programs about a gun dealer (Gunfather), hunting, and weapons. Seems like gun manufacturers and the NRA paid to produce those programs. They apparently do not know that Asian countries have very strict laws on weapon ownership.
Some less developed countries have lax laws or lawless regions, but they normally buy really cheap locally made weapons. In some regions, lots of people are armed. Usually no mass murders (excluding suicide bombers), just family feuds and such. Where? Areas in Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc. Might have changed since I visited.
A sports channel is showing reruns of PSG football. Probably free footage from PSG.
And most other channels are full of shows promoting cooking, eating out, and other food shows.
Full of programs paid for by companies trying to promote their products or consumer spending.
Avoid Korean news due to biased reporting.
All media seems to want is to control human behavior.
Only left with CNN, other American news channels and sports channels.
Almost all Koreans watch Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min.
Financial news is pretty safe. I know what financial news is BS and what is relevant.
Rooting for stocks to fall even more. Closed out my positions last week.
The US borrowed billions of dollars during the coronavirus pandemic and incurs a huge trade deficit every year. With every increase in the prime rate, the dollar becomes stronger, which makes it cheaper to repay the debt with inflated dollars and makes imports relatively cheaper due to a stronger dollar.
A lot of stores and companies are raising prices by 20% or more on old stock, which shouldn't have been affected by the recent rise in prices. Imagine many more will follow suit.
To fight diseases, the body sends antibodies, which can either be destructive or constructive depending on perspective and other things.
Intelligence, which seems to be related to truth, should survive? In theory, or by coincidence?
Deadly things like cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption could be like antibodies against dissonance? Used to drink and smoke cigarettes, but had a more self-centered and self-indulgent consciousness then.
Most effective antibody against cognitive dissonance is confused thinking, from the perspective of a collective consciousness.
Very intelligent conservative and powerful people are taking advantage of cognitively dissonant people by spreading false news and sleights of words to impart negative feelings toward something or someone, usually someone, and winning elections. Why is that? Is it ethical?
Like early TV programs in the US, all those black and white TV programs were about the 'ideal' family or 'ideal' life as interpreted by a few broadcasters and advertisers. Brainwashing people then and still today.
Saw some old acquaintances at a reunion, most are drinkers. Alcohol is definitely bad for brain cells and clear thinking, from personal observation over the decades. Does it seem that a majority of conservatives drink alcohol?
Are drunk presidents as bad as or more dangerous than drunk drivers?
Used to regret getting angry at the cognitively dissonant (extremely aggressive, bullying, etc.), but a good overall perspective might be needed. It is good to regret getting angry at cognitively consonant people.
Sort of impossible not to explode at some things that happen. Might as well drive the perpetrator even more crazy, for a while...
No bad or good people? Just happy and miserable people?
The world makes sense when viewed from a certain perspective.
Or is it, the world makes sense when thoughts are based on true assumptions?
Life is part of the consciousness that is waking up and exploring the universe?
Then, when the body dies, the personality, memories and stuff are gone. But the consciousness, or collective consciousness, is still here in life and has evolved that much further. So, the personal part is gone, but the essence is still there?
Somehow very comforting thought?
People over the ages had similar thoughts? Gaia, comes to mind.
Look into the consciousness? What a trip... The darkness can be death defying and very thrilling.
Trump's legacy to leaders of nations? Lie like there's no tomorrow or God and get away with it. A majority, it seems, is following his lead. Imagine what kind of thoughts they have all day. Crazy world.
Are Thoughts Reflected In The Physical and Metaphysical Universe?
Perfectly worded questions that seem to resonate just keep popping up?
Organisms programmed to survive usually just chill or play when faced with free time. Humans drew, spoke, and wrote. Seem to be programmed to find out why, for some reason.
Are we exploring the universe as the eyes, ears, and brains for some thing? Slaves to knowledge or some metaphysical energy trying to explore and find out what it is?
Hmmm... Life is the result of some thing trying to explore and find out where it is, what it is, etc.? Seems true.
That would explain why no other species evolved to do calculus. No need.
Would also explain why humans developed intellectually so quickly. Explains many things?
So, we are like fingernails on a bigger thing? Likely. Too gloomy. We are part of the knowledge that is accumulated? Better.
Even better. Life is part of the consciousness waking up and exploring the universe?
Just imagining?
Another mystery revealed - How psychedelic drugs work in the brain.
A study states that psilocybin seems to reduce activity in the medial prefrontal cortex, an area of the brain that helps regulate a number of cognitive functions, including attention, inhibitory control, habits and memory. It could reduce focus on the self and related constraints, thereby impart an "open mind" on the individual.
"... stars in distant galaxies are typically more massive than those in our local neighborhoods, and that the farther away the researchers look, the more massive the average stars become.", the study stated.
Maybe, dark matter might not be needed to explain 'missing mass' of spinning far off galaxies and stuff?
Still need something to explain dark energy. Wonder if black holes turn mass into space? The two great unknowns might have a connection. If mass can be turned into energy in stars, maybe mass turns into space inside a black hole? Who knows? Space is related to time, energy and mass, so seems likely. Maybe even space-time.
In deep learning, AI software is designed to work like a human brain for certain functions. For example, placing importance or weight on current information over outdated information.
In a decade or so, there should be enough AI software to mimic most basic functions of the human brain? Eventually, probably mimic a human. Could it be then that the The Question is answered?
Resonance and dissonance are relative and depends on the reference frequency or key.
So, the key for metaphysical, or maybe thought, resonance is truth? Logically.
Or, is it constructive knowledge can be built on truth and true assumptions? Seems to be both.
Resonance tends to linger longer than dissonance?
Strange society, if one thinks about it. Full of contradictions. Some people kill each other for fun in online games. Should be more advanced than that.
Wonder if mass shooters played FPS games.
Heroic rescuers, kidney donors, and other highly empathetic people have larger amygdalas than normal, per CNN report on heroes. The amygdala is related to generating the experience of fear and empathizing with other people's fear, the report said.
Fear is a mostly physically-based emotion? Can cause dissonance?
Lived in Manoa Valley, for a time. Language can be confusing. Interchangeably use so many words...
Could too many people be too dependent on their society and status quo?
If you are not a part of society, apparently there is something wrong according to society. Anti-social is a dirty word. But everyone is anti-present society, right?
Most people don't agree with many aspects of society but due to education and peers...are caught in loop, it seems?
Avoiding social contact as much as possible works wonders but is hard to do, at first? Love, friendships, excitement, etc., are like addictions and hard to stop, even for a while? But one needs to take a break for proper perspective.
They say friendships are good for health and longevity. True in many cases, but depends on friend and person.
Being mostly alone is hard to do but recommended to older people for a change. Seems to free time to get acquainted with the 'void'.
Younger people might need friends and a sense of belonging. Older people have already had the experience and need to try something else or new?
Talk about metaphysics and crowds will become sleepy and thoughts clouded. Discourse on metaphysics in the future could seem like speaking in tongues.
Are many too dependent on talking to pass time? Is talking too much an addiction? For some? For one? Used to be. For all? At times?
Also, does too much speaking lead to cognitive dissonance? Sometimes, the mouth seems to run off with the thoughts. The conscious loses control of thoughts and something false is spoken.
Definitely messes up thinking. If sufficient time is taken to recognize and realize the falseness of the thought, then the dissonance is resolved? If not, problem gets compounded and seemingly infinitely complex?
Were humans meant to evolve from being centered on survival to being centered on exploring the universe? Or is something driving humans to do so? Or were our brain genetics or epigenetics changed by radiation, chemicals, peyote, or something? Could be all of the above.
Society and media places a lot of importance on friendship and getting together to have fun.
Since I can remember, media has touted 3 meals a day, family and friends are good for health and longevity, and other themes. Why not bombard people with stories about eating 3 meals a day is too many calories and unhealthy? Or negative friends and family can ruin health?
Shouldn't scientific studies have moved on from family and friends are good for health to more detailed studies? Same thing for over 50 years. People are like sheep, but come on.
All these chemicals affect the brain and consciousness, but have not yet been proven to be the cause of consciousness?
Could consciousness be like a software program for an organism's identity? The current status of the being. Evolved to survive, but with too much leisure time....?
Time will tell. Chimps in zoos have time, so do pet dogs, but...
Information on brain functions appears to be growing exponentially. Very little was known until recently.
THC consumption appears to lower background noise in the mind, so thoughts can vibrate with less interference? (Personal supposition)
But what background noise? Dissonance. Oh, I see now. Thanks.
Hear and 'feel' music more clearly? Taste more clearly? Think more clearly, for those who are able to think without dissonance?
With legalization, another age of metaphysics, or philosophy, will come sightly sooner?
I used to think my thoughts led me here, but long ago, I came to the thought that 'something' led me here. Why would anyone think these thoughts, and for so long?
Knowledge in books and stored form is just symbols until it is processed and retained by a 'brain' or 'consciousness'.
Information has a metaphysical dimension and this dimension can be accessed by thought?
Or is it that information exists in a metaphysical dimension and this dimension can be accessed by thought? Or both? hehe.
So, when books are destroyed, only the physical dimension is destroyed. The metaphysical dimension (metaphysical concept, aspect) remains. So, just the physical information, not knowledge is lost, when a book is destroyed.
Good imagination? Or do thoughts resonate until they meet something that reflects the thoughts back to us and the mind coverts that something into consciousness, like some kind of radar?
Or do thoughts resonate until they meet something that is in the same key, or in tune with the thoughts and a 'node' (standing wave or resonance) is formed and the resonance then floats into consciousness?
Or do thoughts just interact with retained information in the mind until something resonates?
Could be all of the above, some thoughts to do this, some do that. LOL
Or when viewed from different perspectives?
Theory of Relativity was thought up by Einstein to resolve contradictions in physics.
Could do the same with metaphysics? A much more precise way of communication needs to be developed first. Extensive writing could be the ticket.
Summarized. There seems to be a process in the mind that reviews what is in the conscious, subconscious, stored information, and makes decisions about what to do and think.
Species that educate their offspring and themselves. Many do?
Species that use language and math? Many do.
Closest would be chimps and apes that are able to use sign language? Teach them to teach themselves and wait a million years? Or is there something else?
