Korean Media Frenzy Due To Conservative Party Candidate Drop In Polls!

Presidential elections in early March 2022.

The mostly conservative Korean media is trying to frame negative and sensational accusations against the ruling liberal party candidate as newsworthy and relevant. Also, the conservative party candidate, Yoon Seok-youl, has taken to slandering and insulting the current President and ruling party candidate, Lee Jae-myung.

I think it's not wise to call for Yoon to call people fools and idiots, and say that Lee is a felon.

Yoon used to be the leading candidate with around 47% selecting him in polls. Now, the percentage of people voting for Yoon in polls is around 29% and people voting for Lee is  around 37%.

Apparently the change in the polls has moved Yoon to act and talk even more like Trump. LOL. Out of touch with the times.

Yoon also has a lot of other problems with his mother-in-law being recently jailed, wife falsifying resumes in the past, and allegations of personal wrongdoing.

Due to the elections, the liberal party is now sending spokespeople to news shows to counter conservative speakers. I don't normally watch the news, but nowadays it's just so enjoyable to hear logical arguments to conservative nonsense.

Yonhap News: Lee leads Yoon 37.4 pct to 29.3 pct: poll

Strike 1 for Big Bang Theory

If the Big Bang and Inflation theory is correct, light in the cosmic microwave background should be polarized in two ways: B-modes, which are swirly patterns, and E-modes, which are more of a straight-line pattern. They could only find E-modes.

Scientists say the detection instruments might need to be more sensitive to find the B-modes, but I count this as a strike.

Pot Can Cure Autism and Epilepsy in Children?

According to CNN's Gupta, in some tests that were conducted, absolutely yes. This could be a game changer. Medical studies proving the effectiveness of pot for certain illnesses where other medications have serious side effects.

I could be a little autistic. Definitely not sociable. Pot should be legalized in Korea. I might be in need of medication for my illness.

Read that Germany and many other countries are legalizing recreational weed. Thailand allows medicinal marijuana. Canada, Georgia, Malta, Mexico, South Africa, Uruguay, part of the US and Australia have legalized cannabis. Portugal has decriminalized drugs for decades, I think.

A lot of progress over the last decade. Wonder if it will accelerate? Corporations, equity funds, and other entities seeking profits are involved in the cannabis business now. So much wealth has been accumulated by the wealthy, if society had progressed at the same pace, the world would have been a much better place.

Property, equity, intellectual property rights. The system has to change, but won't? Are all people created equal? Definitely not. Some are wealthy at birth, some are orphans at birth.

Evolutionary Path to Cognition

How cognition in cells could evolve into higher order cognition in animals explained in Scientific American - New Clues about the Origins of Biological Intelligence.

Still a little dubious about how it could lead to self-awareness and a self-learning collective consciousness of cells and such.

Deep reflection on major concepts (death, life, beginning, end, good, bad) seems to inevitably lead to questions on consciousness.

What about a collective conscious of living things (bacteria, plants, animals, cells)?  What about viruses and inanimate objects? I read that viruses are more inanimate than "alive". Anyway, I am leaning towards a collective conscious of "live" things. What drives this life? Probably a "field", "energy", or "dimension".

Being More Conscious?

Some are more "conscious" than others, naturally. What is being more "conscious"?

More awareness of words, meanings, concepts, environment, smells, taste, rhythms, etc.

More intelligence? I was taught that everyone is equal. Some things that I was taught have turned out to be wrong...

Many seem to be limited in their awareness, or consciousness. Too centered on enjoyment, envying wealth and power, avoiding certain thoughts (death, meaning of life, pain, mistakes, sins, ethics)...?

Meditation? If you fall into deep thought, I believe that is meditation. Really easy and natural.

Only about a third of the world population seem to be "enlightened", while another third seem to be cognitively dissonant (illogical) and the remaining third somewhere in between.

Problem is that during elections, misinformation from the cognitively dissonant is prevalent in the media due to several factors.

Welcome to my world. Three months away from Korean presidential elections. Conservative candidate (former prosecutor who praised former dictator Chun Doo-hwan stating that apart from the Gwangju massacre, he did many good things) is way in the lead in some polls, believe it or not.

Gallup has the race neck and neck between the conservative party candidate and the ruling party candidate. Many Korean polls have the conservative party candidate leading by a wide margin. They say it's due to different methods used in polling. They are a mixture of land lines, regular mobile phones, base rate mobile phones, ARS.

Housing prices have stabilized over the past week in Korea. Increasing property taxes has been the solution to rising prices for the past half century, but the rich had blocked all property tax increase proposals since they had the majority in the National Assembly.

The ruling Democratic party obtained a majority in the last parliamentary elections and passed the increases.

According to polls, over half of Koreans are against the tax increases. Most of them believe that they hear on the mostly conservative news media, and in the angry outbursts of the rich.

I know a lot of people with more than two homes. One for living and the others to make money. People with more than two homes all hate the ruling Democratic party and it seems to be affecting the people who like to hang around rich people.

From my observation, many of the Korean rich seem to be Scrooges and have an aversion to paying any tax.

Property taxes are still VERY low in Korea, as long as you only own one that is worth less than a million dollars. If you own more than one, then the property taxes are similar to what one would pay in the US, I think. Maybe a little more, if you have several really expensive apartments or houses.

Many news announcers on TV have more than two homes. LOL!!!

Korea is still trying to implement a five day, 40-hour work week. Things take time, I guess.

Property Taxes Increases Hit Rich Korean Multiple Residence Owners

In order to combat rising prices of residences in Korea, the Moon administration and ruling party raised property taxes and the base rate that properties are appraised for tax purposes, gradually.

This is the second year of the gradual property tax increases. The rich people and companies owning two or more residences, or one multi million dollar residence, were warned in advance of the tax increases and had many chances to sell their properties (some own hundreds of apartments).

The tax notices will be sent out, or have already been sent out. Now, there are a lot of rich people really pissed! The news media has significantly intensified efforts to blame everything on the Moon administration and ruling party, or try to frame them as inept and corrupt.

I can imagine my rich real estate speculating acquaintances reaction to their tax bills. They now have to pay about three times more than in the past. They can afford to pay, but they must be screaming bloody murder, calling people commies, and mumbling obscenities at the Moon administration and the ruling progressive party.

Most didn't sell their multiple residences. If they could, they gifted some residences to their children. Most are waiting for the conservative party to win the National Assembly or Presidential elections and rescind the tax increases.

My property taxes have not gone up, I still pay about six hundred dollars a year on a supposedly million dollar cramped old apartment.

A lot of Koreans are worried about the rising real estate prices. A lot of commercial space is for rent nowadays, but commercial real estate prices will not fall. The rich have a monopoly on the real estate market, from my perspective.

The government says the tax increases affect only the top 2% of residence owners.

Yet, about 44% of Koreans are support the conservative party's presidential candidate (party of the rich, former prosecutors, and powerful), while only 37% support the ruling party's candidate (tax the rich, need to start discussions on changing labor environment and concepts like universal basic income, LOL).

A lot of people still apparently trust the mostly conservative, and definitely lopsided opinion polls and reporting by the news media. Hopefully, they won't bother to vote. hehe.

Lavish use of subliminal messaging with the subtitles. Misleading wording, conservative party candidate's face smiling in background with positive subtitles, and such.

Last week, the poll numbers were even worse, I think it was 47% for the conservative party candidate and 30% for the ruling party candidate.

I think the stress from the coronavirus pandemic makes it hard people to recognize the good efforts of many governments.

Visible Universe vs Entire Universe?

Didn't think about that, but thank goodness this guy did. Always thought about things within the visible universe.

Photons are two-dimensional according to the laws of current day physics?

Lots of stars out there. Take a look below at one small part and its full of stars.

Vibrations In Fields Create Particles?

That is what the Standard Model of Particle Physics theorizes.

Current theories need around a dozen dimensions (fields) at least, in order to work. Following video explains. Could be one thing with around a dozen effects.

Evolution + Something?

Evolution doesn't seem to explain fully why humans can learn and contemplate ideas and concepts?

There seems to be something else driving the change? Something like the concept of entropy in the physical world. Something like reverse entropy for intelligence? Or is it just a sudden leap in evolution?

Living organisms had billions of years to become highly intelligent, why now and why humans?

Another thought.

If X, Y, and Z are dimensions, what are complex numbers (number with "imaginary" units)? Complex numbers do not describe imaginary things. They were named imaginary numbers or units because mathematicians could not describe them in dimensions of X, Y, and Z, which are all they knew at the time, several hundred years ago I think.

Not depicted in geometry like X, Y, and Z, but can be depicted as 90% rotation in a different dimension than X, Y, or Z.

The Schrodinger wave equation, which describes the energy and position of electrons in space and time, includes "i" (square root of -1). It is needed for the equation to work.

Encourage people to explore and learn? Benefits to productivity and intelligence of society should be exponentially greater than encouraging people to watch and read about violence and hate?

In the future, will universal basic wage be tied to attending public college courses of choice? 20%, or so, reduction for failing courses?

Automated farms, factories, work processes, analytics, and so on. Some companies are going to make a lot of money without many people. Imagine the future?

Encouraging children to be truthful and good has a lasting effect. Many people apparently have been encouraged to do so. More like encouraged to be rich and successful at all cost?

The video below agrees that evolution does not explain human consciousness in much stronger language.

Encourage People To Be Truthful?

If cognitive dissonance led to dementia or Alzheimer's disease, people would probably stop lying.

Cognitive dissonance hinders logical thought. Could lead to dementia and other mental illnesses?

Cruel thing to say, but in some ways, I wish it did. Does the punishment fit the crime? Varying degrees of mental illness.

They did a study and found out that "Where Gun Stores Open, Gun Homicides Increase". Naturally.

Scientific American article - Where Gun Stores Open, Gun Homicides Increase

In factories, standing below any heavy load that is being moved or supported by cranes and such is prohibited. Minimize any danger as much as possible to reduce accidents, injury, and deaths.

Shouldn't streets be safer than factories?

South Korea allows guns, but you have to be licensed, keep the gun at a police station for storage, and only allowed to check it out for a limited time for hunting or other declared purposes. Definitely contributes to a less violent society, in my opinion. Much still needs to be done with regards to violence and hate in the media, speech, books...

Of course, the military has guns and sometimes there are incidents involving soldiers killing soldiers or civilians. Incidents involving crossbows, bows and arrows, knives, bats...

Logical?

What happens when chimps are given loaded guns and shown movies of chimps shooting chimps?

What about humans? Less likely but...

What if gun and murder scenes in movies were illegal?

À la Facebook, movies with violence and rage make profits.

I think religions also do it when they incite hate against sinners, abortions, and so on.

Advanced civilizations probably are not attracted to violent movies or making profit.

Meta space/time? All other dimensions or fields that coexist with the physical space/time/energy/mass that we recognize.

Is consciousness life? Is life a field and/or dimension?

Seems to be driven by organized "signals" to certain molecules? Interesting. Signals from where?

Or is life a bunch of infinitely evolving positive feedback systems that arose/arise by chance?

Have a headache? Some people can think, some people get headaches? Wonder why?

Maybe knowledge is power and is not readily accessible by people who would abuse it.

Who made that decision and made the world that way? That is a human-centered question. There is no who and something made? Maybe like dimensions, forces, or fields?

Knowledge vs Consciousness? Is knowledge a dimension, force, or field?

Friday, October 29, 2021

Is Consciousness a Force? Dimension?

A force like gravity, energy? Or something else?

Animal consciousness can move physical objects, solve problems?

Is it a dimension? Like space-time, energy-mass? Energy is related to Mass which is related to Space/Time which is related to Consciousness?

Self-consciousness? Conscience?

Maybe another 'force' or 'dimension' is needed? Something which we probably are not able to conceptualize fully but related to Good, Better? A force in the process of moving evolution and knowledge towards better? Got a better idea?

Big Bang is now Big Expansion

If there was a big bang, there would be a hollow center somewhere in the universe as all matter would have been pushed out, according to newer explanations of the universe.

Renown physicists now say that there was almost instantaneous "expansion" of space when time started (this time around?) and then the rate of expansion was reduced to what it is now. Could the expanding space have always existed?

The other unknown?

Consciousness? Response to internal/external information?

Self-consciousness? Social consciousness? Materialistic consciousness? Subconscious actions?

Needs much more study.

South Korea -

Ruling progressive party presidential candidate Lee said that the problem of too many restaurants and too many failing restaurants should be addressed. Lee added that maybe it was time to discuss having a limit on the total number of restaurants.

80% of restaurants close within 5 years. There is also a lot of unfair and illegal treatment of franchisees by restaurant franchise chains (many owned by business conglomerates). They also pay exorbitant rents.

Most the news media and guest commentators stated that Lee wanted to restrict the freedom of the people had advocated for a new law to limit the number of restaurants.

Most reported Lee's statements with false assumptions and negative insinuations.

Despite all the negative media, Lee is still neck and neck with the conservative party's candidates who claim that Lee is a criminal and should be in jail.

There must be a lot of Koreans who still don't believe the version of news that conservative media outlets are presenting.

The conservative party is focusing on personal attacks to Lee's integrity and intelligence. I think the conservative party knows they will lose on debates regarding policies and plans for the country. Also, it's the "call the other guy a crook to deflect attention from one's own corruption" ploy used so much in the past by the conservative party and also Trump.

Hell Froze!

TV Chosun is one of the most conservatively lopsided news broadcast channels in Korea.

They usually say things like "the liberal party claims..." and "the conservative party pointed out...". And insinuate the liberal party as having done something wrong or illegal on false rumors.

Well, this morning, it started being objective in its reporting and commentary. Had a former liberal party member as a guest commentator, and a frequent conservative commentator, who usually expresses anger at anything related to the liberal party, was reserved.

Somewhat like Fox becoming like CNN overnight. LOL!!!

Hope the change is permanent.

(couple hours later) Nope. Still conservatively lopsided. Guest commentator states the current Moon administration is restricting freedom and increasing regulation needlessly, and everyone nods their heads.

Other frequent conservative guest commentator criticizing the progressive ruling party's presidential candidate and stating many people think that he is a criminal.

All other guest commentators are also cognitively dissonant conservatives.

But they are good at twisting words to avoid legal problems!

Explanation of light not experiencing space or time, and other things.

Against Phase Out of Nuclear Energy?

Conservatives and most media in Korea are against the phase out of nuclear energy in Korea. They state that it will result in higher energy costs, make it harder to become carbon neutral, and that advanced countries are pursuing nuclear energy.

And they are getting a significant portion of the population to agree with them. A lot of cognitively dissonant people.

You can drive across Korea in 4-5 hours. If there is a nuclear accident, then 10-20% of Korea might become uninhabitable.

Also, when a nuclear plant or waste disposal site is proposed, EVERYONE is vehemently 'not in my neighborhood'.

Facebook, Youtube, Other Platforms Negatively Affecting Not Only USA

There are many accounts and Youtube channels in Korean that spread false narratives and attack people, mostly conservatives mimicking Trump, in Korea.

That should be illegal. Freedom of speech should not apply to lies that attack and harm people. That is as bad as a physical assault, in my opinion.

Problems in India as per BBC News report - India: Facebook struggles in its battle against fake news

There are scammers on Craiglist - Seoul, who place posts purporting to sell pot, meth, cocaine and other drugs. I flagged them daily for over three years and wrote to Craiglist but they don't do anything to stop it.

The cops are watching the posts, but no drugs are being sent. Only gullible people being scammed by people overseas.

I still flag the posts. Nowadays, the scammers stop for a month or so and start up again.

I can't find posts by scammers on Craiglist in the USA or other countries. Why? Craiglist polices those countries, or there are more people like me flagging such posts.

In Craiglist-Seoul, you can find posts by "sugar daddies", perverts, and other dangerous people in the "Jobs" section. I flag them also. These are easier to stop than drug scammers. The drug scammers are very persistent.

On a bright note, 70% of Koreans have received two injections of coronavirus vaccines as of 23 October. We still wear masks and stuff. Some do not obey the rules.

Starting November, the government will ease restrictions. Forecast is for an 80% vaccination rate by December, if I remember correctly. The daily average of new coronavirus infections is around 1,300, down from over 2,000 a couple weeks ago, if I remember correctly.

Why do people refuse to be vaccinated? Brainwashed with lies, in many cases.

Bad things don't upset me like they used to. Slightly annoyed, nowadays. They don't affect my enjoyment of life as in the past. That's a good thing. Optimistically, probably only have a decade or two to live.

Leading Opposition Candidate for Presidential Elections in Korea?

Yoon Seok-yul, a former prosecutor who was suspended for wrongdoing. The person appealed and the court found that the suspension (two months, if I remember correctly) was too lax for the crimes.

He was suspended for failure to maintain political neutrality as the top prosecutor, ordering others to draw up documents containing judges’ personal information with the intent to conduct unauthorized surveillance, and obstructing an investigation into a case related to local cable television network Channel A, which was embroiled in a collusion scandal involving the prosecution.

He is the conservative party's leading contender in their runoff to select a candidate.

The ruling progressive party candidate? Another civil rights lawyer who became a mayor, then governor of a province. Former President Roh Moo-hyun and current President Moon Jae-in are also former civil rights lawyers.

Imagine the majority of news channels being like Fox. That's the situation in Korea. They also flood the comments sections on websites with @!#$#!@.

Right now, the conservatives are ahead in the polls. Election will be close, like the US, I think. Why is life always on the edge?

In an "advanced" society, should websites and media amplify outright lies being stated by cognitively dissonant people?

Einstein Probably Thought?

The speed of light is constant, and the speeds of objects with mass are relative?

Why was he thinking about this? Was it to solve a problem? The thought just popped into his head?

Probably to solve a problem in physics. But that's how he started working on the theory of relativity.

I wonder if when there is mass, there is space and time. Without mass, no space or time?

But then where does light exist, if it doesn't experience time or space? In dimension(s) without space-time and as radiation in the world as we know it.

Also energy is related to mass.

Maybe, there are dimensions that haven't been recognized as of yet, in addition to space-time, mass-energy?

Another question?

energy+algorithms+atoms+feedback+billions of years + unseen dimensions = life?

Dimensions?

The meaning of "dimension" is unclear.

They say that there are three dimensions of space and one of time.

Maybe, dimensions of space, should be called space sub-dimensions, or the like.

Space and time are intertwined and so are mass and energy.

What do you call space-time and mass-energy? The meaning of "dimension" is somewhat limited.

A wave of energy, or whatever, moving at the speed of light doesn't experience time, according to present physics. If it doesn't experience time, then it most likely doesn't experience space.

Space-time? Mass-energy? Information-Consciousness (knowledge)?

Constructive-destructive? Seems like a subset of something.

Kinda feel that society is productive enough so there is enough for everyone, as long as no one hoards.

People Won't Believe The Truth?

Seems to be happen in all countries. Korea and the US have a similar problem.

The conservatives are pushing misinformation, disinformation, and falsehoods. They have become cognitively dissonant and act irrationally.

And they seem to draw the attention and trust of other cognitively dissonant people.

Arguing with cognitively dissonant people is not very productive. What to do?

Take time to enjoy life? What if enjoyment and satisfaction came from doing good (God or some other dimensional thing)?

Could it be that cognitively dissonant people are more angry and dissatisfied than cognitively consonant people?

Why? Karma? God? A metaphysical dimension?

Cognitively dissonant people seem to be drawn to rhetoric espousing hatred and fear?

Are Information and Consciousness Dimensions?

Would think so.

Is thought plus will a force? Would think so. Thought and will can move physical objects.

If there is nothing, then no information. If there is a almost infinitely small point. Then space and information are created. If there are two infinitely small points, then there is more information in the system.

Information + Consciousness = Knowledge?

Information + Algorithms + Consciousness = Knowledge?

Information + Algorithms + (Energy?) = Consciousness?

Consciousness = Life?

Average Price of Seoul Apartments?

Much higher than a couple of months ago.

The average price of an apartment in Seoul is now KRW 1.2bn, or slightly over USD 1m. Pay about USD 500 a year in property taxes and people wonder why real estate prices keep going up.

One good thing about being Korean. We have a very good health care system. Everyone pays into a national health insurance plan. It's very inexpensive, compared to the US and other Western nations.

On a much different note...

The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that isolated systems will progress to a state with the most entropy, or disorder.

Only applies to physical phenomena, it seems. For metaphysical concepts, another theory seems to be needed.

Knowledge and technology seem to become more complex as time passes. The entity "human civilization" seems to be developing into something of a higher order. Debatable?

Wednesday, August 11, 2021

Average Price of Seoul Apartments?

Around 1,000,000,000 Korean Won or about 860,000 US Dollars.

Prices of apartments, or condominiums, in my neighborhood rose roughly fourfold in ten years, from what I recall.

Happened in a lot of cities around the world.

For homeowners, probably a good thing. For non-homeowners with low incomes? People should have the right to healthy food, health care and a clean residence at an affordable price that lets them save money for retirement and emergencies?

Some day?

A Lot Of People Are CRAZY?

Don't want to wear masks or get vaccinated. Believe outrageous lies.

Why? Cognitive Dissonance. Should consider it a pandemic. Probably be listed as a mental health problem in the future.

One is born "clean", but as one grows older and lies, one becomes stuck in a loop or circle that becomes harder to escape each time around.

Yet, some do escape. How? Through thought.

But most people don't like to reflect on things that are linked to their mistakes, reflect on life and death, how did this all come to be, and such?

Too busy chasing fun, entertainment and other egoistic pastimes?

I keep circling back to this topic every decade. Conclusion? One has to absorb the bad energy (vibes) of the cognitively dissonant and try to make a better world.

Easiest way to do that? Blog.

Hardest way? Directly meeting cognitively dissonant people. Like a black hole. Sucks all positive energy and leaves me feeling really unsettled.

Didn't Know

Two people from the district office visited my home and told me I was eligible to recieve AstraZeneca's vaccine for the coronavirus. Didn't know that.

I signed up for the free vaccination at a clinic within a few minutes walk.

Think they are crosschecking eligible people with those who applied for a vaccination and vaccinated people. Very proactive.

I sometimes go through several weeks, sometimes months, without watching Korean news on TV or online. Most of the media is directly controlled by the right wing (ie. rich) and often have TV news shows with conservative guests as commentators criticizing the Moon administration and the ruling progressive party. Very depressing.

My children don't watch the news either. Wonder why? I never talked to them about my opinions on the media. They probably come down to the same conclusions.

Alien Lifeforms?

Physically, life has limits.

Intellectually? Depends on whether knowledge is finite?

If humans "meet" other worldly "creatures", it will most likely be more an intellectual, rather than physical meeting?

What would a more advanced civilization, or intellectual "being", communicate to us? Avoid climate change, be truthful?

Such a being most likely would try to communicate with us through telepathy. But how would we understand that "being", if the "being" only planted seeds of thoughts in our consciousness, and left the decision up to us (as in Startrek - not interfering in "untouched" civilizations)?

Why Do We Get So Much Joy Out Of Beating One Another?

Probably some instinct that evolved over time.

I play poker for virtual money. I am almost a billionaire. There are people with trillions, so I am sort of poor.

When I catch someone bluffing, or play slow and fool someone, it makes really my day! I laugh, smile, chuckle.

American football, soccer, basketball, other sports. People go crazy.

Seems like we should be evolving out of such behavior. From a certain perspective, it seems very mean.

Vibrations in Physics

Various theories in physics stipulate that an infinitely small string or point vibrates and creates all things physical.

In my mind, if you vibrate a point or string at certain frequencies, you get symmetrical patterns. In the physical world, not everything is symmetrical.

So the vibration must be asymmetrical and still impart constructive information. Sounds like we are in a simulation? Could be. I was undecided before.

A Good Thing About Covid-19?

Played a part in stopping Trump from almost certain reelection.

Would be looked upon as Divine Intervention by many, if it weren't for all the death and suffering.

Few probably think about what America and the World would be like with Trump in a second term as President.

The conservative party in Korea has been acting like Trump for decades and have become even more emboldened watching Trump spout lies. Pretty sure the situation is the same the world over.

Used to drink very weak coffee, but surprisingly found out it was causing ulcers.

Saw Jaco play with Pat Metheny. Think it was in 77?
